The Pedometer Challenge

Take a positive approach to your wellbeing by signing up with your colleagues to the HEFT pedometer challenge from 22 May.Anyone can join by making a team of 5 or more. Get involved and aim to become more active over the 6 week programme. We will provide you with a pedometer, support and information throughout the challenge. All you need to do is tighten your shoelaces and get moving. Email [email protected] to register with your team name, members and goals.

Walking is an effective source of physical activity for individuals of all ages and fitness levels. It has the benefits of being free, simple, can be done anywhere and fits into the structure of everyday life. Those who walk regularly have more muscle strength, flexibility, higher fitness levels, increased energy and improved mental health and wellbeing over sedentary individuals. Furthermore, walking has been shown to reduce the risk of chronic illness such as type 2 diabetes, asthma, stroke, some cancers and heart disease.
