What is Stress?

Stress is defined by the Health and Safety Executive as the adverse reaction people have to excessive pressures or other types of demand placed on them at work. Stress is not necessarily bad. In fact many people thrive under pressure. However, when it is excessive and work demands and pressures not matched to a workers knowledge and abilities. This can challenge an individuals ability to cope.

Stress is triggered by stressors, a stimulus that causes stress. it is important to note that everybody deals with stress differently. Everyone has different threshold and stressors so it is important to how to recognise stress and it causes.
